I don't care much for it. I enjoy the character Eddy Riggs (played by Jack Black which is great), and I really enjoy the music and the world. But I really don't care for the RTS sections of the game. If it was not for that odd RTS like gameplay at certain points, I would really enjoy the game.
Needless to say, I may not finish the game. I am hooked on Borderlands right now and I think I will not be playing anything else until COD MW2 comes out.
I enjoy RTS games, but this thing started out as a hack n slash style of game and then WHAMO, RTS. Then its back to more hack n slash and then again WHAMO, RTS.
It is just not what I expected and I find it to be the worst part of the game. If they had just stuck with the hack n slash style, I would have really enjoyed it.
Well that's a shame. I thought that even on Brutal difficulty the AI in the RTS portions wasn't overly difficult to market the game to a general audience.
In Multiplayer practice mode though, things get different fast. The AI on normal is fairly tough.
Stage battles are RTS. As you play through the story mode each "chapter" of the story ends with a stage battle. You and your opponent build a stage at a preset location on the map. You capture fan geysers with the Fan Tribute solo which builds a merch booth on the geyser.
The more fans you have, the more units you can build. You can then command your units to attack enemy units, defend positions, attack enemy structures, etc.
The stage battles start with a limited set of units and goals (simply defend your stage for an amount of time) and nicely build up to the end battles where you have to mount a full out assault on your enemy's stage.
I have purchased NFS Shift from ebay in europe and got it the next day from UPS... paid 6$ shipping on both.
USPS usually takes 2 to 3 weeks >.>

As a fan of RTS in general I am pretty happy.

Whats a WHAMO? >.>
